Bathroom Renovation Tips for a Flawless Result

A successful bathroom renovation depends as much on careful planning as on skilled execution. Here are the tips we share with every client before work begins.

Set your total budget upfront — and stick to it. Include a 10–15% contingency for surprises. The most common ones are hidden water damage behind walls and floors, which only reveal themselves once demolition starts.

Choose your materials before work begins. Tiles, fixtures, and accessories often have two-to-four-week lead times. Having everything on site from day one prevents costly work stoppages.

Prioritize waterproofing. It's the least visible step, but the most critical. A poorly installed membrane can lead to mould and structural damage within a few years. At ImmoZen, we use certified waterproofing systems and document every step.

Think about ventilation. An undersized bathroom fan is the number-one cause of excessive condensation and mould. We recommend a model with a timer or humidity sensor for optimal comfort.

Finally, plan for access to another bathroom during construction. Most bathroom renovations take two to four weeks. If your home only has one, discuss a schedule with your contractor that minimizes disruption.
